Newer scooter models sometimes have exhaust gas recirculation on the original exhaust. The small hose cannot be mounted on the sports exhaust. This does not affect performance or certification, however. The exhaust can still be installed legally, even without exhaust gas recirculation! Sport exhaust systems always need more speed than the original exhaust in order to be able to fully develop their performance. If the sports exhaust does not get the required speed, it often runs even worse than the original exhaust. The installation of lighter variomatic rollers and harder clutch springs is therefore very important in order to give the scooter more speed and thus achieve optimal performance. Many scooters are also throttled via the CDI, which consistently reduces the speed and thus the top.
